There are a few important points about small business health insurance and the way it works:
  • In sickness and in health, through small group insurance you are covered. That is called Guaranteed Issue.
  • You do need at least one W-2 employee
  • The employer has to contribute towards the cost of the plan

How much is this going to cost me and my company?

In many cases getting small business health insurance can be less costly than buying individual coverage.

At minimum an employer must contribute a minimum of 50% towards the monthly premium. The nationwide average for a single employee’s annual premium is around $6,200. When considering the 50% split the monthly cost to the employer is around $258.00
